TableauOps · Dashboard extension

One search box instead of a filter sidebar.

Every dashboard grows a rail of native dropdowns, one per field, each a scroll and a click. Omni-Search replaces the whole rail with a single box: type anything and it matches across every field and every value the dashboard shows. Pick a result and every worksheet filters. A chip shows what is active; remove it to clear.

$29one key, every viewer

Free in Tableau Desktop: get it from the Tableau Exchange and use everything, no key. Publishing to Tableau Server or Cloud is where the license comes in. Want the charts too? Kit + Search for $79.

Try it right here.

This is the real extension on a sample Superstore dashboard, running as you read. Type a value and watch the chips appear.

Free in Desktop. Licensed when you publish.

Omni-Search checks where it is running. In Tableau Desktop everything is on, always. On Tableau Server and Cloud, a license key pasted once into the gear keeps everything on for every viewer of that workbook.

How to add it.

  1. Free from the Tableau Exchange. Find Omni-Search on the Exchange and add it, or add the hosted .trex directly. Nothing to install.
  2. Drop it on a dashboard. Dashboard, Objects, Extension. Place it as a thin full-width strip along the top. By default results drop down in place; float it for the Overlay or Icon layout, or pick Palette for a thin strip.
  3. License it when you publish. On Tableau Server or Cloud, open the gear, paste your TO- key, press Verify. Desktop never asks.
